Chibuike’s visa interview and approval has been in limbo for over two weeks now but hope is not lost.
On July 8, Chibuike reported for his interview at the U.S.. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria. He was turned away. It appears that the documents submitted arrived four days before his appointment instead of the new deadline of 14 days prior. This is a new procedure not widely shared. In fact, a meeting confirmation email sent to Chibuike from the Embassy on July 3 did not mention there was anything outstanding.
We were told a new interview would be scheduled soon, although the only word we have received is that it will happen and the “process is ongoing.” Our U.S. Representative’s office is advising and continue to remain patient and optimistic. Time is tight, we know, but we are continually offered words of encouragement from all directions.
IUP is ready. His room is nearly complete. And although admittance can be deferred until January if necessary, we continue to hold out hope that the issue will resolve in time for this fall semester.
Please. Positive energy, encouraging thoughts, prayers, meditation. We ask for any and all that you can offer and send across the Atlantic into Chibuike’s soul. He is stressed beyond what we can imagine, but holds out the same hope as do we all.
And, of course, if anyone has connections that could help move this forward, please let us know.
